Councillors Janet Whitehouse and Jon Whitehouse study a map of the masterplan area standing in one of the masterplan area fields

South Epping Masterplan

Many local people were upset and concerned when Conservative councillors forced through plans to build on Green Belt fields south of Epping.

Our local Liberal Democrat team of councillors has consistently stood up for residents’ views
• In 2017 the Liberal Democrats voted against taking fields south of Epping out of the Green Belt in order to build 950 dwellings. However Conservatives councillors voted in favour meaning the plan went ahead.
• Lib Dem councillor Jon Whitehouse spoke at the public hearings into the plan. As a result of the hearings the the number of dwellings was reduced from 950 to around 450.
• We raised issues about the South Epping Master Plan and got some changes made to speed up the provision of services but still have concerns about design and health and highways which we are taking up.

At some point developers will submit a planning application or planning applications. Local people will have another chance to make their voices heard. Sign up below to be kept up to date
